Michael Perlman, CPA
As the former Managing Partner of one of the largest Restaurant Public Accounting Practices in Chicago, I have provided accounting, tax and operational consulting services to leading restaurateurs, their teams and their families by applying my financial skills, my passion for food and my innate creativity in entrepreneurship, to aid independent restaurateurs with a variety of value-based services.
Passion For the Restaurant Industry
I have always been passionate about the restaurant industry, both personally and professionally. For the past 43 years, beginning with the small CPA firm I joined in 1981 through my position as an Office Managing Partner for BDO USA, LLP, I led the firm’s Chicagoland Restaurant Practice and provided accounting, tax and consulting services to leading restaurateurs, their teams and their families. By delivering the same personalized service and “attention to detail” our restaurant clients strive to provide to their customers, I became both an ad-hoc member of their management teams and their “trusted advisor for life.” And as passionate as I am about the restaurant industry, I am equally passionate about entrepreneurship, which was exemplified by the growth of our independent CPA firm and ultimate sale to a prominent regional firm in 2013 and our combination in 2015 with BDO, the nation’s 7th largest public accounting firm.
With the restaurant industry continuing to face mounting post-Covid-19 challenges including labor shortages. wage pressure, skyrocketing commodity costs, online food delivery, heightened competition and a cost-concious customer, restaurants – now more than ever – need to better plan and manage their costs and expenses while continuing to grow sales.
